This is the cover artwork for Dawn. A huge thanks to Big Wow for the design! The album will be out on January 28th via Popical Island.
It’s a new year, and a new Popical Island album will be out this month from the wonderful Walpurgis Family. Let’s celebrate this with a track from the album. “Let’s Go Camping” is a dark slice of folk pop.

Walpurgis Family’s new album ‘Dawn’ will be released on January 28th 2012. The release will be celebrated with a launch gig in Crawdaddy (Harcourt St., Dublin) the very same evening with support from alt.country giants Boa Morte and Popical fellows Jonny Fun & the … Hesitations.
That’s that. 2011. What was the point? Another step closer to the grave. You know the skull on Popical Island? That’ll be all of us soon. At least we have the Popical Island Christmas Party to help us forget. But today we want to remember.
There’s been a lot of talk during ‘11 about funding…
An exciting weekend is ahead of us! We’re very happy to join the line up for the Popical All day Extravaganza in Whelan’s (Free, starts at 2:30, goes on till late).
This event will celebrate the release of Popical Island #2, the second compilation of the collective. You can listen to the compilation on Nialler9’s blog. Stage times can be found on Harmless Noise.
Here’s our contribution:
Here’s six of the two hundred covers we made for Compilation #2. They were painted and stamped by Anna, Annie, Bronwyn, Cormac, Jonny, Mide, Mike, Nora, Pádraig C, Padraig O’R, Ruan, Saileóg and Valerie. Mike made the spinning contraption that gave them that lovely effect, we were all really impressed but we hid it and were all like “Pfft! Check out Doc Brown and his dumb machine!” to annoy him.
We love you Mike!

Here’s the poster for a solo Walpurgis gig in Bewley’s with Big Monster Love and Captain A. My compliments to the excellent MS Paint skills of mr Big Monster Love.
Wow, this blog has been silent for a while. Sorry if you missed us.
We’ve been working on new material, and are hoping to release a new album later this year. Right now we’ve got eleven songs good to be recorded. Exciting times!
We’re playing a gig supporting Tom Cooney in Bewleys Cafe Theatre in Dublin on Saturday April 9th (8pm, 8 coins). We’ll be testing a few of the new songs.
On the 23rd I’ll be playing a solo gig in Bewleys, supporting Big Monster Love and Captain A.
Hugs, Jeroen
